Chops a lOrange

  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2/3 cup long grain rice dry
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup apple
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar or granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large pork chops
  • 4 slice oranges


    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. In a large, deep, ovenproof skillet, brown chops in hot oil over medium-high heat for 3 to 4 minutes per side. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove chops from skillet and set aside, leaving drippings in skillet.
    3. Saute rice in drippings, stirring constantly, until golden brown (about 5 to 7 minutes). Stir in orange juice and water, and bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Stir in apple, raisins, sugar, cinnamon and salt.
    4. Arrange browned chops on top of rice mixture. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
    5. Remove from oven and place orange slices on chops. Bake uncovered for 10 minutes longer.
