French Fried Onion Rings

  • 2 large onion
  • 1 count egg
  • 1 count oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup beer
  • 1 1/4 cup flour


    1. Cut onions into slices 3/8-inch thick; separate slices into rings.
    2. In a small bowl, combine flour, beer, egg, 1 tablespoon oil, baking powder and salt; blend until smooth.
    3. Pour oil for deep-frying into a deep skillet or deep-fryer; heat to 375 degrees. Using a fork, dip onion rings into batter, coating well. Fry coated onion rings in hot oil until light brown on both sides. Turn onion rings once during cooking. Remove onion rings from hot oil and place on paper towels to drain. Sprinkle lightly with salt before serving.
    4. Continue until all onion rings have been fried.
