Gruyere Potatoes

  • 2 1/2 cup gruyere cheese
  • 2 1/2 pound new red potatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper


    1. Peel and boil potatoes until almost tender (about 20 minutes); drain and cut into thin slices.
    2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly butter a 2 quart baking dish.
    3. Place half of the potatoes in prepared dish; top with half of the cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Arrange remaining potatoes in a layer over cheese. Pour half and half evenly over top. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
    4. Bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes or until potatoes are tender and top is lightly browned.
