Macaroni and Cheddar Cheese

  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs fresh
  • 3 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard dry
  • 1/8 teaspoon white pepper
  • 3 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup onion
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 cup cheddar cheese
  • 2 cup elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine


    1. Grease a 2 1/2 quart baking dish with butter or margarine (or spray dish lightly with non-stick cooking spray); set aside.
    2. Cook macaroni according to package directions and drain.
    3. Melt butter or margarine in a medium saucepan; add flour, salt, mustard and pepper; blending well. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes. Do not brown. Add milk, onion and Worcestershire sauce; cook, stirring constantly, until smooth and thick (about 10 to 12 minutes). Add cheese and stir until cheese melts. Add macaroni to cheese sauce; mix well. Pour macaroni mixture into prepared baking dish; top with crumbs.
    4. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
