Banana Nut Bread

  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 medium bananas
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 count eggs


    1. Grease and flour a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan; set aside. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
    2. Cream butter or margarine and sugar until well blended. Add bananas, eggs and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; sift together. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk to banana mixture; mixing thoroughly after each addition. Add nuts and mix well. Pour batter into prepared pan.
    3. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center is almost clean.
