Angel Biscuits

These are light and fluffy! YUM


  • 1 package yeast active dry
  • 2 cup buttermilk ice cold
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • 5 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shortening


    1. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water; set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add yeast and buttermilk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
    2. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until dough clings together. Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter. Fold biscuits in half and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
    3. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
