Southern Pecan Pie

NOTE: If you wish to use chopped pecans in place of pecan halves


  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup syrup dark corn
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • 1 count pastry for 1 pie crust
  • 3 count eggs


    1. Combine sugar and butter or margarine in a mixing bowl; mix well. Add corn syrup, eggs and vanilla; beat to blend. Pour into pastry-lined 9-inch pie plate. Arrange pecans halves on top in a circular pattern.
    2. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes; then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 40 minutes longer.
