Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 count egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon ground
  • 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup molasses dark
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar

Directions

    1. Cream sugar and shortening until thoroughly blended. Add molasses and egg; mix well.
    2. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger and salt. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture, blending well. Cover and refrigerate dough for at least 3 hours.
    3. Grease a baking sheet or spray with no-stick cooking spray; set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    4. Form chilled dough into walnut sized balls; then roll balls in granulated sugar. Arrange balls on prepared baking sheet.
    5. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
