Rice Pilaf

  • 2 slice bacon
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon bouillon chicken beef or vegetable granules
  • 3/4 cup long grain wild rice
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup celery or green sweet pepper
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms buttons
  • 1/3 cup onion


    1. Chop onion and celery or pepper.
    2. In a medium saucepan cook onion, mushrooms, celery, and garlic in hot butter until tender.
    3. Carefully stir in rice, bouillon granules, pepper, and 1 1/2 cups water. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, about 15 minutes or until the rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
    4. If desired, stir in cooked, crumbled bacon.
