  • 8 cup cider or apple juice
  • 1 count cinnamon stick
  • 8 count orange wedges
  • 1 teaspoon orange peel
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon allspice whole
  • 1 teaspoon clove whole


    1. In a large saucepan combine cider and sugar.
    2. For spice bag, place cinnamon, allspice and 1 teaspoon cloves, and the orange peel on center of a double-thick, 6-inch square of 100 percent cotton cheesecloth. Add spice bag to the saucepan with cider mixture.
    3. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
    4. Meanwhile, if desired, stud orange wedges with cloves. Remove spice bags and discard. Serve cider in mugs. If desired, garnish with clove-studded orange wedges.
