Overnight Stuffed French Toast

Maple syrup can be used for topping also.


  • 1/4 cup almonds
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup orange marmalade
  • 4 count eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 ounce cream cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 slice bread French
  • 1 teaspoon crystallized ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoon orange marmalade or apricot preserves


    1. Generously grease a 3-quart rectangular baking dish; set aside.
    2. In a small bowl beat together cream cheese, marmalade, ginger (chopped), and nutmeg. Stir in almonds.
    3. Cut a pocket in the top crust of each bread slice. Divide cream cheese mixture evenly among pockets.
    4. Place bread slices in prepared baking dish. In a small bowl beat together the eggs, milk, and vanilla; slowly pour the egg mixture over bread slices, covering all the tops. Cover and chill overnight.
    5. Bake, uncovered, in a 350 degree oven 30 to 35 minutes or until golden. Serve with orange sauces.
    6. Topping: Combine orange juice and 1/4 c. orange marmalade in saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5-8 minutes. Use like syrup on french toast.
