Melt in your Mouth Sugar Cookies

  • 3 count egg yolks
  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup butter


    1. In a large mixing bowl beat butter and shortening with an electric mixer for 30 seconds. Add sugar, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl.
    2. Beat in egg yolks and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much flour as you can. Stir in remaining flour.
    3. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
    4. Bake at 300 degrees about 15 minutes or until sides are set. Cool on cookie sheet for 1 minutes. Transfer to wire rack to cool.
