Baked Stew

Serve with crusty bread.


  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 pound beef round steak or stew meat
  • 24 ounce V8 juice
  • 6 count carrots
  • 5 count potatoes
  • 3 count celery
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 count green pepper
  • 3 tablespoon tapioca
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup flour


    1. Cut steak into 1-inch chunks; remove fat. Put flour, salt and pepper in a zipper locked bag. Add meat and coat with flour. Fry meat in oil, browning on all sides, in an oven proof pot or dutch oven.
    2. Add remaining ingredients. Cover tightly and bake at 325 degrees for 2-3 hours. Do not remove lid or stir until end of baking time.
