Seafood Chowder

Note: Fresh or frozen fish/shrimp can be used. Thaw fish/shrimp if frozen before preparing.


  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 slice bacon
  • 3 count new red potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon bouillon chicken flavored granules
  • 4 count hot pepper sauce
  • 1 count pepper
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 pound cod
  • 1/2 pound shrimp
  • 1/4 cup green pepper
  • 1 count clam juice bottle
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 cup light cream
  • 1/4 cup flour


    1. Cut fish into 1-inch pieces. Remove shells and veins from shrimp. Cover fish and shrimp; set aside.
    2. Cook bacon in a large heavy saucepan until crisp. Add onion and green pepper to bacon just until tender.
    3. Combine potatoes, clam juice, bouillon granules, pepper sauce thyme and pepper; add to mixture in saucepan.
    4. Bring to a boil; then reduce heat, cover, and simmer until potatoes are tender (about 10 minutes).
    5. In a small bowl or cup, combine milk, cream and flour, blending until smooth; whisk into mixture in saucepan.
    6. Add fish and shrimp, and bring almost to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer gently uncovered until fish and shrimp are done (about 10 minutes). DO NOT BOIL.
