Sweet and Easy German Chocolate Cake

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3/8 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 package coconut almond frosting mix
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 count eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • 1/4 pound chocolate baking


    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two layer pans.
    2. Combine dry ingredients and set aside.
    3. Cream butter and sugar, beat for about 2 minutes on high. Add eggs one at a time mixing well after each. Add vanilla.
    4. In a microwaveable dish melt choc and water until smooth. Cool slightly.
    5. Alternately, add dry ingredients and buttermilk mixing well. Add cooled chocolate and mix.
    6. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 30-40 minutes until toothpick come out clean. While cooling, prepare frosting.
    7. German Chocolate Frosting: Combine milk, butterscotch chips, butter in a saucepan and heat until butter and chips melt. Add Coconut Almond frosting mix and mix thoroughly. Ice top of both layers and stack.
