Basic Pie Crust

  • 6 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cup Crisco shortening
  • 3/4 cup water


    1. Mix 5 c. flour and salt in a large bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse peas.
    2. Sprinkle with water, 1 tbs. at a time, stirring with a fork.
    3. When flour is moistened, gather together with fingers so it cleans bowl.
    4. Roll into 12" rounds on floured surface. Add flour as needed to surface and rolling pin.
