Sour Dough Bread Starter

  • 1 package yeast dry
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup instant potato flakes
  • 2 cup water


    1. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand for about 5 minutes until foam forms on top.
    2. Add remaining ingredients. Keep at room temperature for 24 hours in a heavy duty zipper locked bag. Then place in fridge for 3-5 days.
    3. Feed after 3-5 days by adding 1/2 c. sugar, 1 T. instant potato flakes, and 1 c. warm water. Mix well and remove 1 cup of mixture for use and return remainder to the fridge for 3-5 days. Repeat this step then.
